Defiance College (0-4 overall, 0-2 HCAC) struck first in the contest as freshman, quarterback, Logan Mico (Grosse Point Park, Mich.) scampered for a one-yard score with just 3:05 remaining in the first quarter.
Rose-Hulman (3-1 overall, 2-0 HCAC) responded traveling 39-yards on three plays to tie the contest at 7-7 as time expired. The Elephants captured their first lead of the contest early in the second quarter as Garret Wight connected with Parker Lappins for a 25-yard catch and score, 14-7.
Trailing 17-7 late in the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets responded as Mico found sophomore DeVonte Cravin (Ama, La./Hahnville) for the 48-yard hook-up. The Defiance drive went 61-yards on six plays.
Rose-Hulman continued on the attack as they took the pursuing kickoff 64-yards on eight plays to enter the half leading 24-14.
Defiance finished with 257 total yards of offense in the first-half, led by Mico with 269-yards through the air and Cravin with 127-yards on seven targets.
The Elephant offense wasted little time in the second half converting on fourth down to extend its lead, 31-14. After forcing a DC three-an-out, the Rose-Hulman aerial attack struck again scoring the games final touchdown, 37-14.
The Yellow Jackets finished with 286 total yards of offense, including 312-yards through the air. Junior Cody Brown (Grass Lake, Mich.) led the defense with a team-high 15 tackles, 11 solo tackles.
Defiance returns to action Saturday, September 30 as they look to defend their home turf against Earlham College on Take Your Kid to the Game Day. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
