DEFIANCE, Ohio – OhioCollegeFootball.com officials recently announced the 2009 NCAA Division III All-Ohio Teams, with Defiance College's Tom Foos and Kyle Longsdorf each being honored by the website. Foos garnered First-Team honors, with Longsdorf being named Third-Team All-Ohio.
The First-Team All-Ohio award follows nods as a Preseason First-Team All-Ohio and Second-Team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selection for Foos. The junior punter and two-time All-HCAC student-athlete set a career high with an average of 38.9 yards per punt in 2009, stuck 23 of his 71 boots inside the 20-yard line and forced 14 fair catches, while anchoring the Defiance College special teams.
Longsdorf was named Third-Team All-Ohio as a defensive back, after leading the HCAC with 116 tackles and ranking 16th in the nation with 11.6 hits per contest. The Second-Team All-HCAC performer also had 11.0 stops for lost yardage, three sacks, two interceptions, seven passes defended, three forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and one blocked kick during his breakout junior season.
Foos and Longsdorf will return for their senior seasons to lead Defiance in 2010. The Yellow Jackets will be hoping to build on a second-consecutive 4-6 campaign.
