Gregg homers twice in loss to Ohio Northern

Inside The Numbers
- Gregg went 2-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Gregg is the second Yellow Jacket this season with a multi-homer game joining senior Lucas Thomeier who belted two against Transylvania earlier this season.
- Junior Austin Horning went 2-4 and scored a run.
- Senior Nate Kaffenbarger drove in a run with a single.
- Chayten Overholt hit three doubles while Dakota Durick and Jacob Wenning each had two for the Polar Bears.
- Kyle Lawrence earned the win for Ohio Northern.
The Difference
- The Polar Bears took an early lead by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first then scored nine runs off nine hits and one Defiance error in the bottom of the third.
- The hosts added two more thanks to three hits and another Defiance error in the bottom of the fifth.
- In the top of the sixth inning, sophomore Hunter Bostater singled through the right side and then advanced to third on a hit by Horning down the right-field line. Horning moved over to second on a wild pitch and Hunter Hamilton drew a walk to load the bases. Bostater scored on another wild pitch and following a Defiance strikeout Gregg belted a three-run homer to right field.
- Ohio Northern scored four more times in the eighth inning off four hits and an error.
- Defiance got two more runs in the top of the ninth off a solo homer by Gregg and an RBI single by Kaffenbarger.
- ONU outhit Defiance 18-7 and took advantage of four Yellow Jacket errors.
- The Defiance pitching staff gave up eight walks while only striking out one Polar Bear.
