Baseball drops doubleheader to Skidmore in Fort Myers
The Defiance baseball team was defeated by Skidmore in both games of a doubleheader on Thursday. Nate Kaffenbarger went 7-8 on the day with a double.

Game One
- Kaffenbarger went 4-5 to lead the Defiance lineup.
- Sophomore Hunter Bostater added two hits and drove in two runs.
- Jackson Hornung had four hits and drove in six runs for Skidmore.
- Peter Martin earned the win in the 17-8 Thoroughbred victory.
- Freshmen Tyler Sickmiller and Colton Nutter made their collegiate debuts and each struck out a batter.
Game Two
- Kaffenbarger went 3-3 in the second game.
- Lucas Thomeier went 1-1 with an RBI.
- Junior Austin Horning had a pinch-hit RBI single in the seventh for both his first career hit and RBI. Horning also recorded his first career stolen base.
- Sophomore Mitchell Roever doubled and stole a base.
- Dylan Peregord and Josh Horning each threw an inning in relief in their college debuts.
- Pascal Marcktell and Owen Fitzhugh led Skidmore with three hits apiece.
- Anthony Petersen earned the win in the 13-2 Skidmore win.
