Murphy Named a NCAA DIII Baseball Statistical Champion

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Defiance College senior Jonathan Murphy was named NCAA Division III's Statistical Champion for sacrifice bunts per game for the 2013 season and was tied for the most sacrifice bunts on the year.

Woodley Recognized as HCAC Co-Coach of the Year

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2013 All-HCAC honors on Tuesday with head coach Derek Woodley receiving Co-Coach of the Year recognition. DC pitcher and first baseman Darin Waterman was named to the All-HCAC Second Team, while seven other Yellow Jackets received Honorable Mention status.

DC Clinches Postseason Berth For First Time Since 2004

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Defiance College baseball program reached the 20-win plateau for the first time in almost 20 years on Saturday with a 6-3 game one win at Transylvania and qualified for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2004. The last time the Jackets won 20 or more games was 1995. DC dropped the final game of the series by a final of 3-0.

Seniors Shine in Last Home Saturday Games of the Season

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Senior pitchers Aaron Patterson and Jake Taylor each notched wins against the Earlham Quakers in the first two games in a pivotal Hearltand Collegiate Athletic Conference series. The Jackets rallied to win game one 8-7 in extra innings and then used a 9-5 victory to move into fourth place in the conference standings.

DC Baseball Takes Franklin Series for First Time Since 2006

DEFIANCE, Ohio – After a hard fought-fought 3-2 victory in the series opener on Saturday afternoon, the Yellow Jackets needed only a split to claim the series with the Grizzlies. The Purple and Gold won the first game of its doubleheader on Sunday in dramatic fashion to win the regular season set against Franklin for the first time since 2006.

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Defiance College baseball squad traveled to Manchester University to take on the No. 16 team in the nation in the Spartans. Manchester proved itself worthy of the ranking, as the Spartans dominated the game, winning by a final of 19-2.
