Kirk Jesse got the Jackets started in the opener, depositing the Kyle Dillon offering over the left-center fence and giving DC the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. That would prove to be one of the only highlights on the day for the Jackets however, as the Anderson lineup got on track and posted runs in 13 of its final 14 at bats on the day.
Braden Brugler entered the day leading Defiance with a .400 batting average at Rutter Field and stayed hot on the home turf. The freshman outfielder knocked out three more hits in six at bats and added a run and an RBI. Tim Pitro, Trey Harris and Jesse also had three hits in the doubleheader.
Defiance will host Ohio Northern on Tuesday at 4:30 pm for its final home contest of the season.
