Raiders host Defiance Thursday night in quick turnaround

DAYTON - The Wright State men's basketball team completes a quick, two-game homestand Thursday night as the Raiders welcome Definace to the Nutter Center. Wright State is coming off an 80-71 over Bowling Green on Tuesday as four Raiders finished in double digits, while Defiance is 1-1 on the season. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Fans can follow the action several ways - via live stats, by watching on ESPN+ or by tuning in on WONE 980 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play on the radio and ESPN feeds.

LAST TIME OUT
Four players scored in double figures on Tuesday night as Wright State downed Bowling Green 80-71 inside the Nutter Center. Wright State shot 53 percent from the floor as a group, with Amari Davis tallying a season-best 19 points while Trey Calvin added 15 points, including 11 in the second half. Brandon Noel recorded his first career double-double, finishing with 10 points (all in the second half) and 11 rebounds as he threw down a pair of big-time second half dunks. AJ Braun was the final player in double figures, recording seven of his 10 points in the final 20 minutes.

SEEING DOUBLE
Brandon Noel recorded his first career double-double in the Nov. 15 victory over Bowling Green, notching 10 points (all in the second half) and 11 rebounds as he threw down a pair of big-time second half dunks. Noel has played 19 or more minutes off the bench in all three games to date, and has turned in back-to-back double-digit point production, scoring 13 points at Louisville on Nov. 12 before the 10 points on Nov. 15 against Bowling Green.

90 TO BOARDS
Amari Davis entered the season with 90 career collegiate games under his belt (58 at Green Bay, 32 at Missouri), but in Wright State's season-opener against Davidson on Nov. 9, Davis recorded a career first - pulling down 13 rebounds (10 on the defensive glass) to go along with 17 points for his first career double-double.

DEFIANCE POINTS
-Defiance is coming off an 11-11 overall record in 2021-22 with a 9-6 record in Heartland Conference play, ending the season in the Heartland Tournament quarterfinals. 
-The Yellow Jackets faced a trio of Division I opponents last season (Miami (OH), Bellarmine and Youngstown State), while Thursday's meeting with the Raiders is the second of two Division I matchups this season after they traveled to HL foe Oakland on Nov. 7 (92-27 loss).
-The 22-player roster features 12 players listed as either freshmen or sophomores.

SERIES HISTORY
Defiance actually leads the all-time series 1-0 after a 105-93 Defiance home win in February 1971, the Raiders' first season of basketball.

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Following Thursday's contest, Wright State will hit the road for the second time this season for tournament action in Las Vegas as part of the Vegas 4. The Raiders will take on Abilene Christian, UC Riverside and Weber State at The Dollar Loan Center, a brand new arena that opened in March 2022. The arena is home to the Vegas Golden Knights' American Hockey League affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights, the Indoor Football League's Vegas Knight Hawks, NBA G League's Ignite, Big West Basketball Championships and the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame. Under head coach Scott Nagy, the Raiders are a combined  11-6 in MTE tournament action spread across five tournaments and five seasons.
