Yellow Jackets Place 22nd at Wilmington Invitational
WILMINGTON, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's cross country team traveled to southern Ohio for the 2014 #JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College and placed 22nd overall.
WILMINGTON, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's cross country team traveled to southern Ohio for the 2014 #JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College and placed 22nd overall.
The Yellow Jackets posted a team score of 687 points to place 22nd of 43 teams. Ashland University captured the team title with 52 points, followed by Cedarville University with 104 points. Huntington (Ind.) University rounded out the top three schools with 144 points.
Individually, DC was paced by sophomore Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay County) who ran a time of 18:54.34 and placed seventh overall out of 413 total runners and was the top overall runner amongst the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competitors. Freshman Courtney Kunk (St. Henry) had the second quickest time for the team of 20:59.68 and was followed by fellow freshman Whitney Schalk (Bellevue) who crossed the finish line with a mark of 22:04.40. Sophomore Kelsey Bowling (Sidney/Houston) completed the course in a time of 22:20.40 to place fourth on the team and senior Marissa Bussard (Whitehall/Bloom-Carroll) came in with a time of 22:50.14. Sophomore Brittany Holmes (Defiance) turned in a mark of 23:13.65 and freshman Aaron Textor (Swanton) rounded out the scoring times for the team at 23:27.08.
Defiance will next compete at the HCAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Richmond, Ind. Earlham (Ind.) College will serve as host with the first race set to begin at noon.
