Yellow Jackets Finish Sixth at HCAC Championships
RICHMOND, IND. – The Defiance College women’s cross country team traveled to Earlham (Ind.) College to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and placed sixth overall.
RICHMOND, IND. – The Defiance College women's cross country team traveled to Earlham (Ind.) College to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and placed sixth overall.
The Yellow Jackets posted a team score of 162 points to place sixth of ten teams. Hanover (Ind.) College captured the team title with 35 points, followed by Manchester (Ind.) University with 62 points. Franklin (Ind.) College rounded out the top three schools with 95 points.
Individually, Defiance was led by sophomore Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) who ran a time of 23:09.0 and placed sixth overall. Freshman Courtney Kunk (St. Henry) had the second quickest time for the team of 25:09.2 and was followed by fellow freshman Whitney Schalk (Bellevue) who crossed the finish line with a mark of 26:05.2. Senior Marissa Bussard (Whitehall/Bloom-Carroll) completed the course in a time of 26:35.7 to place fourth on the team and freshman Aaron Textor (Swanton) came in with a time of 26:55.6. Sophomores Brittany Holmes (Defiance) turned in a mark of 26:58.7 and Kelsey Bowling (Sidney/Houston) rounded out the scoring times for the team at 27:29.6.
The Purple and Gold will compete next on Nov. 15 when they travel to Mason, Ohio for the NCAA Regional Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
