Women’s Cross Country Picked Third in Preseason Poll
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its preseason women’s cross country poll on Monday. Defiance College received 83 points in the poll to claim the third spot, while three Yellow Jackets were named Runners to Watch.

In 2010, the Yellow Jackets placed third at the HCAC Championships. As a team, DC had one All-HCAC performer and two All-HCAC Honorable Mentions.
Senior Ellen Stryffeler and sophomores Kate Busto and Ericha Griep were all named to the HCAC Watch List. Stryffeler and Busto both earned All-HCAC Honorable Mention selections a season ago, while Griep finished in the top four at every race for the Jackets.
Manchester was picked first with 97 points and eight first place votes after winning the conference title in 2010. Hanover (89), Defiance (83), Franklin (65) and Anderson (56) completed the top five.
Defiance begins its season on September 1, when it travels to Manchester College to take part in the Manchester Hokum Karem.
