Women’s Cross Country Places Third at HCAC Championships
VERSAILLES, Ky. – The women’s cross country team accounted for four of the top-20 scorers at the HCAC Championships on Saturday, and placed third as a team with 85 points on the day. DC’s third-place ranking was a three-spot improvement over last season’s finish.

Kaitlin Switzer placed sixth out of 103 runners at the meet with a personal-record time of 23:47.06 on the 6k course, and received All-HCAC honors for the first time in her career after being tagged as an honorable mention performer last year. The race also marked the 12th-consecutive meet in which Switzer has placed first among all Yellow Jacket harriers, dating back to Sept. 25, 2009.
Freshman runner, Kate Busto, came in second for Defiance and 15th overall with a time of 24:42.61, while Ellen Stryffeler finished 17th with a personal-record time of 24:48.63. Busto and Stryffeler both received All-HCAC Honorable Mention for their performances. Ericha Griep and Erika DeBos placed 21st and 29th at the meet with times of 25:11.31 and 26:05.98 respectively to round out the scoring for DC.
Next on the Yellow Jackets' schedule is the NCAA Div. III National Championship Meet on Nov. 13 in Holland, Mich.
