Switzer Leads Jackets to 25th-Place Finish at Regionals
HOLLAND, Mich. – The women’s cross country team finished 25th in a 34-team field at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championship in Holland, Mich. on Saturday. An average finishing time of 24:57.3 for the Jackets marked a 1:49 improvement over last year’s pace.

Senior runner, Kaitlin Switzer, placed first among all DC harriers for the 13th-consecutive race, and was the Jackets' only runner to finish among the top-100 in the region. The Defiance High School product placed 97th overall, covering the 6k course in 24:09.3.
Ericha Griep finished second for the Jackets with a time of 24:40.8, followed by Kate Busto (24:46.1), Ellen Stryffeler (24:50.3) and Erika DeBos (26:19.8). Kaye Bockbrader and Katie Tibbits came in 6th and 7th-place respectively for the Jackets.
The race marks the completion of the 2010 cross country season for the Lady Jackets, and the final race for All-HCAC performer, Kaitlin Switzer, as a member of the Defiance College cross country team.
