DC Women’s Cross Country Picked Sixth in HCAC Poll
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently released its first ever preseason cross country poll. The Yellow Jackets placed three runners on the HCAC Preseason Runners-to-Watch List and were picked to finish sixth in the HCAC.

Defiance received 30 votes trailing Manchester (77), Franklin (76), Anderson (63), Rose-Hulman (49) and Hanover (48) in the poll. The Yellow Jackets were picked ahead of conference foes Mount St. Joseph (25), Transylvania (24) and Bluffton (13).
DC placed eighth in the 2008 HCAC women's cross country championships. The team was led by Defiance, Ohio, native Kaitlin Switzer who finished 24th and recorded the best 8k time recorded by a DC harrier since 2005.
Joining Switzer on the HCAC Preseason Runners-to-Watch List are senior Kelly Neff and freshman Kaye Bockbrader. Switzer, Neff and Bockbrader will be looked upon to lead a strong class of incoming freshmen during the 2009 season.
The Yellow Jackets will begin the 2009 season on September 1, when they travel to North Manchester, Ind., to compete in the Manchester Invitational.
