Defiance Finishes Eighth at HCAC Championships
N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Defiance College women’s cross country team recorded 198 points on its way to an eighth-place finish at the 2008 HCAC Cross Country Championships. Franklin College claimed the team championship for the first time in school history, while Rose-Hulman’s Melissa Rogers won the meet with a time of 23:32.

Kaitlin Switzer paced the Jackets with a 24th-place finish, bettering last season's HCAC Championships results by 11 places. The Defiance, Ohio native completed the 8K course in 25:23, the best HCAC performance by a DC harrier since 2005. Kelly Neff dropped 13 spots from a year ago, finishing 30th with a time of 25:56. Courtney Swabb (27:31), Amanda Zimmerman (28:08) and Kristina Goodson (31:00) closed out the top five for the Jackets.
Defiance will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, November 15, when it competes in the 2008 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships.
