Volleyball Splits Results at ONU Tri-Match
ADA, Ohio - Defiance College volleyball made the short journey to Ohio Northern University for a tri-match with the nationally ranked Polar Bears and the Kenyon College Ladies on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets split the day with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) loss to ONU and a 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-21) win over Kenyon.

The Yellow Jackets split the day with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) loss to ONU and a 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-21) win over Kenyon.
DC began the day with the tough contest against the #16 Polar Bear squad. Despite the hard fought 3-0 defeat, the Purple and Gold still pulled away some positives rolling into the second match of the day. Delaney Monnin (Defiance / Tinora) and Mackenzie Benham (Marshall, Mich. / Marshall) each tallied double-digit kills with 13 and 11 respectively. Morgan Porter (Defiance / Defiance) and Alexis Kiessling (Defiance / Defiance) recorded 15 and 10 digs in the matchup with Polar Bears.
Head Coach Brie Brenner's side overcame early adversity in the second match of the day after dropping the first set to Kenyon. DC rallied to sweep the next three sets including an emphatic 25-13 third set victory.
Four Yellow Jackets broke ten kills in the four-setter. Benham and Monnin once again achieved the feat with 13 and 10, while senior duo of Jessi Davis (Delta / Delta) and Emma Seitz (Toledo / Central Catholic) recorded 12 and 10 kills respectively. Abigail Cronnin (Lambertville, Mich. / Cardinal Stritch Catholic) set a season-high 21 digs against the Ladies, while Porter continued her day with 25 digs of her own in the second match.
With the Saturday split the Yellow Jackets move to 11-5 on the season as they head into the final non-conference weekend of the year. DC will return to action Saturday, September 28, as they take on a tri-match slate featuring Alma and Kalamazoo. The first match is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
