Porter, Monnin Headline All-HCAC Honors
RICHMOND, IND. - Sophomore Morgan Porter (Defiance) and freshman Delaney Monnin (Defiance/Tinora) earned top All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, while senior Marissa Windau was named a member of the All-Sportsmanship team to lead the way for the Defiance College volleyball team announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
RICHMOND, IND. - Sophomore Morgan Porter (Defiance) and freshman Delaney Monnin (Defiance/Tinora) earned top All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, while senior Marissa Windau was named a member of the Christopher M. Ragsdale All-Sportsmanship team to lead the way for the Defiance College volleyball team announced Wednesday afternoon by the league office.
Porter was named First Team All-HCAC, while Monnin was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Porter dominated the 2018 campaign as she finished the season ranked seventh in the country among NCAA Division III in digs per set at 6.13. She also led the HCAC in digs per set and ranked fourth in total digs with 546. The sophomore also etched her name into the record books as she finished the season ranked first in digs per set and third in total digs for a single season.
Monnin led the attack for Defiance this season finishing the year with a team-best in kills (179) and kills per set (2.45). She finished the year ranked second in hitting percentage (.221) on 516 total attempts. The freshman also recorded 10 double digit kill games, including a career-best 15 kills against Franklin.
Windau earns her third All-HCAC Conference honor and second HCAC Sportsmanship award. The senior appeared in 23 matches with 106 kills for a 1.36 kills per set average. She recorded a team-best 27 service aces and had 184 digs.
The Purple and Gold finished the season 5-19 overall, 2-7 HCAC under the guidance of seventh year head coach Brie Brenner.
