DC’s Ludeman scores second HCAC Player of the Week honors
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Another exceptional weekend performance has earned Defiance College senior Chelsea Ludeman her second selection as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on offense.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Another exceptional weekend performance has earned Defiance College senior Chelsea Ludeman her second selection as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on offense.
Ludeman (Napoleon, Ohio/ Napoleon HS) led the Jackets to a pair of 3-1 victories over the Mount St. Joseph Lions and Trine Thunder on Saturday, October 5. In the conference opener with MSJ, Ludeman notched a team-high 19 kills (.382 pct.) and finished second in digs with 14. The outside hitter also came through with four total blocks that were crucial in the win that snapped a 10-game losing streak to Mount.
Amazingly, Ludeman came out and played even better in the second contest against the Thunder. The senior swatted 20 kills (.486 pct.), along with 12 digs and a pair of service aces. The pair of double-doubles were her fourth and fifth on the season. Overall, Ludeman combined for 30 kills on a fantastic .434 attack percentage, 26 digs and 45 total points on the weekend.
The Napoleon High product has now passed the 1,100 career kills mark and is currently leading the HCAC in both kills (290) and kills per set (4.26), while sitting tied for second in attack percentage (.304) and third in total blocks (57).
This is Ludeman's second time being chosen for the honor this season and the third of her DC career.
Ludeman and the rest of the Purple and Gold Volleyball team will return to action Wednesday, October 9, when they travel to Richmond, Ind. to take on the Earlham Quakers in its next contest. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
