DC claimed the first set 25-21, before hitting a smoking .445 in the second set to run away with a 25-18 victory. For the second night in a row the Jackets came from behind in the final set of the match to record the win. Trailing 20-13 in the third set, Defiance outscored the Grizzlies 14-5 over the remainder of the set to post a 27-25 triumph.
Kristen Nicely led DC with 14 kills on the day, while Danyel Lipps added nine for the Jackets. Sara Porter recorded nine kills and nine digs in the match to come close to her third double-double of the season, while Kelsey Ferguson tallied 35 assists and nine digs and Heather Bradshaw logged nine digs. Freshman Michelle Sikora set career-high in blocks, tallying five blocks in the match.
The volleyball team will take part in DC's homecoming festivities on Saturday, October 4, when they host No. 23 Mount St. Joseph for a 10:00 a.m. match.
