Cross breaks 100m record at Carius/Gregory Invitational
Defiance freshman Traci Cross broke the school record in the 100-meter dash over the weekend at the Carius/Gregory Invitational.
Defiance freshman Traci Cross broke the school record in the 100-meter dash over the weekend at the Carius/Gregory Invitational. Her time of 12.39 seconds beat the previous record of 12.49 seconds set by Micah Wilson in 2014.
Cross broke the record in the prelims at the meet which was hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill. She placed seventh in the event after recording a time of 12.45 seconds in the finals.
Cross and the Yellow Jackets also competed in the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite and that meet saw Cross set a new personal best in the 200-meters with a time of 25.37 seconds. Her time tied for the second-fastest in program history matching Wilson's 2014 mark and second behind her time of 25.32 which was also set in 2014.
Other Notable Performances
- Senior Lisa Markau ended her Defiance career with personal bests in the 100 (12.79 seconds) and 200-meters (26.39 seconds).
- Junior Ja'Qway Janvier placed fifth in the 200-meters at the Carius/Gregory Invitational with a time of 21.94 seconds. His time is the fifth-fastest in team history.
- Freshman Gavin Maratea set a new personal best in the 200-meters at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite with a time of 23.83 seconds.
