DC Women's Track Competes at Tiffin Dragon Open

TIFFIN, OHIO - The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Tiffin, Ohio for the Tiffin University Dragon Open. The meet was unscored.
Junior Danielle Robbins (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) posted the top finish in running events with a 15th-place showing in the 400-meter dash, completing the race in a time of 1:11.55.
Freshman Melia Ferry (Milford) also recorded a top-20 finish in the 800-meter run in which she crossed the finish line with a time of 2:44.50 to plach 18th overall.
The field events were led by senior Alexis Walker (Ft. Myers, Fla./Ft. Myers) who placed in the top-20 in a pair of events, beginning with an 11-place effort in the weight throw after recording a best mark of 48' 0.00". Four other Yellow Jackets competed in the weight throw and finished in the top-20, taking 17th thru 20th places. Junior Brooke Waidelich was 17th following a toss of 43' 11.25". Fellow junior Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) was 18th with a throw of 43' 7.25" and junior Hannah Williams (Swanson) finished 19th with a throw of 41' 2.25". Senior Katie Tilman (Miami Springs, Fla./Immaculata-LaSalle) rounded out the best marks with a distance of 40' 3.5" which was good enough for 20th place.
Santen, Walker and Tilman also competed in the shot put and finished in the top-20, led by Santen who recorded a distance of 35' 5.25" which put her in 17th place. Walker and Tilman both finished just behind Santen in 18th and 19th place with Walker posting a mark of 35' 4.00" and Tilman 34' 6.25".
The men's and women's track teams will host their first indoor track meet of the season next Saturday (Jan. 28) with the Defiance Invitational at the George M. Smart Center. The start time for the meet has yet to be determined.
