DELAWARE, OHIO -- For the fourth time this season, Defiance College junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay County) bettered her own school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Miller was the lone DC representative to compete in the Great Lakes Elite Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Miller captured the steeplechase event with a winning time of 10:58.38 and surpassed her latest record time by over seven seconds (11:05.75).
This season, Miller first broke her own school mark in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the annual All-Ohio Championships where she recorded a time of 11:20.11. Two weeks later, she improved that time at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships where she posted a HCAC-record time of 11:09.96 which was the fastest time of the day to become a three-time conference champion in the event.
Miller then lowered her time again just recently at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College where she ran a time of 11:05.75 setting up her fourth record-setting time yesterday with her sub 11-minute time (10:58.38) which also ranks as the 28th fastest in the nation amongst D-III athletes.
