Eme Miller Breaks Record at the Polar Bear Invivational
ADA, OHIO -- For the second week in a row, junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay County) set a school record, this time in the 1500-meter run with her second-place finish to lead the Defiance College women's track and field team at the Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University.

As a team, the Yellow Jackets posted a ninth-place finish with 15 team points.
Miller posted a mark of 4:58.00 in the 1500-meter run finishing second and surpassing the previous school record by 2.5 seconds (5:00.30) which was held by Patty Schiwebert during the 1978 season. Also competing in the event was sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) who placed 14th with a mark of 5:28.16.
In other running events, sophomore Laura Lutzke (Williamston, Mich./Williamston)crossed the finish line in 20th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.30 seconds.
Sophomore Danielle Robbins (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:07.65 and placed 20th in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 28.96 seconds.
In the field events, sophomore Hannah Williams (Swanton) finished 19th in the discus throw with a toss of 108' 2.00". Fellow sophomore Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville) finished 20th in the same event following a throw of 107' 7.00".
Junior Alexis Walker (Fort Meyers, Fla./Fort Meyers) finished 11th in the hammer throw with a toss of 129' 6.00". In addition, Williams also competed in the event and fiinshed 20th with a throw of 114' 11.00".
Junior Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) finished fifith in the javelin throw with a toss of 100'9.00" and was followede by sophomore Cassidy Santen who finished seventh with a distance of 83' 5.00".
The women's track team will compete in the annual Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships next weekend (April 29-30) hosted by Bluffton University in Bluffton. The two-day event begins on Friday (Apr. 29) at 1 p.m.
