Women Compete in Marv Frye Invitational
DELAWARE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the annual Marv Frye Invitational and placed ninth with a team score of 20 points.
DELAWARE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the annual Marv Frye Invitational and placed ninth with a team score of 20 points.
Leading the way in the running events included sophomore Laura Lutzke (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) who finished 15th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.10 seconds.
Sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) placed 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:41.33.
In the field events, junior Katie Tillman (Miami Springs, Fla./Immaculata-La Salle) recorded a best throw of 36' 2.75" in the shot put and finished sixth.
Sophomore Hannah Williams (Swanton) placed fifth in the discus throw with a toss of 122' 1.00". Sophomore Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville) also competed in the event and finished right behind Williams in sixth place with a toss of 117' 9.00". Junior Alexis Walker (Fort Meyers, Fla./Fort Meyers) rounded out the Yellow Jacket competitors with a 14th-place finish following a toss of 96' 10.00".
Walker also finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 137' 8.00". In addition, senior Nicole Walls (Carleton, Mich./Airport) came in eighth with a throw of 121' 3.00".
In the javelin, sophomore Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) finished sixth with a distance of 97' 4.00" and Waidelich placed 14th with a toss of 79' 5.00".
Defiance will return to Delaware, Ohio on Saturday, April 16th to compete in the annual All-Ohio Division III Championships. Start time for the event is scheduled for noon.
