Women's Track and Field Hosts Defiance College Open
DEFIANCE, OHIO- The Defiance College women's track and field team hosted the annual Defiance Open at the George M. Smart Athletic Center.
DEFIANCE, OHIO- The Defiance College women's track and field team hosted the annual Defiance Open at the George M. Smart Athletic Center. The meet was unscored.
The top overall finishes for the Yellow Jackets included sophomore Danielle Robbins (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) who finshed sixth in the 400-meter dash and crossed the finish line in 1:06.68. Robbins also ran in the 200-meter dash finishing 13th and posted a mark of 28.70 seconds.
Sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) finished 12th in a time of 1:11.82 in the 400-meter dash and also turned in a time of 2:43.85 in the 800-meter run to place 10th overall.
Sophomore Laura Lutzke (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) competed in the 60-meter dash and finished 13th running a time of 8.71 seconds. In addition, Lutzke competed in the 200-meter dash finishing 16th with a time of 30.24 seconds.
In field events, junior Alexis Walker (Fort Meyers, Fla./Fort Meyers) recorded a ninth-place effort in the weight throw after posting a best attempt of 42' 6.75".
The Yellow Jackets had four women finish in the top-ten in the shot put. Sophomore Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) placed fourth with a toss of 35' 8.50". Walker placed fifth with a mark of 35' 4.00" and junior Katie Tillman (Miami Springs, Fla./Immaculata-La Salle) placed eighth with a throw of 33' 3.25". Joining the trio was sophomore Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville) who finished 10th with a throw of 32' 5.75".
Select members of the Defiance track teams will compete in the All-Ohio Division III Championships tomorrow (Feb. 13) at Otterbein University in Westervillle, Ohio. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
