Defiance Competes in Northwest Ohio Invitational
FINDLAY, OHIO- Defiance women's track and field team traveled to Findlay, Ohio on Friday, Jan. 15 to compete in the Northwest Ohio Invitational. The Yellow Jackets finished 10th overall.
FINDLAY, OHIO- Defiance women's track and field team traveled to Findlay, Ohio on Friday, Jan. 15 to compete in the Northwest Ohio Invitational. The Yellow Jackets finished 10th overall.
In the 300-meter dash the Yellow Jackets had two competitors. Sophomore Danielle Robbins (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) ran a 50.19, placing 10th overall. Sophomore Laura Lutzke (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) finished 11th and ran a time of 51.84 seconds.
Robbins ran a time of 1:11.39 in the 400-meter dash to place 17th overall.
Sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) competed in the 800-meter run, and finished 10th overall with a time of 2:50.10.
Junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay County) broke two school records and finished in fifth place during the one mile run out of 25 women. She finished in 5:17.31 minutes. She also placed fourth out of 26 competitors during the 3000-meter run. Miller crossed the line at the 10:32.80 minute mark.
The top three finishers for shot put were junior Katie Tillman (Miami Springs, Fla./Immaculata-La Salle), and sophomores Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) and Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville). Tilman threw 35' 9.5", Santen went 34' 10.5", while Waidelich threw a distance of 30' 10.25".
Rounding out the top finishes was Waidelich in the weight throw with 36' 8.5", finishing 18th. Sophomore Nicole Walls (Carleton, Mich./Airport) threw 35' 6.75" and finished 19th. Sophomore Hannah Williams (Swanton) finished 20th and threw 34' 11.75".
Defiance will compete again on Saturday, Jan. 23 in their season home opener, the Defiance College Invitational at the George M. Smart Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
