Women Open Indoor Season at Trine Conditioner

ANGOLA, IND.- The Defiance College women's track and field team competed in its indoor season opener at the unscored Trine (Ind.) University Conditioner Meet in Angola, Ind.
In the running events, sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) placed second in the one-mile run with a time of 6:35.65. The Yellow Jackets recorded two other top-25 finishes beginning with the 400-meter run in sophomore Danielle Robbins (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) who finished sixth with a mark of 1:12.73.
Senior Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center) ran a time of 8.90 second in the 60-meter dash to place 22nd overall. Joining Weaks was sophomore Laura Lutzke (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) who finished 25th and ran a time of 8.93 seconds.
In the field events, Defiance had three throwers finish in the top-25 in the shot put. Junior Katie Tillman (Miami Springs, Fla./Immaculata-La Salle) finished eighth with a distance of 10.99 meters (36' 0.75") and sophomore Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) finished 10th with a mark of 10.69 meters (35' 1.00").
Rounding out the top finishes was sophomore Brook Waidelich (Pettisville) who finished 11th in the weight throw with a toss of 12.01 meters (39' 5.00"). Sophomore Hannah Williams (Swanton) finished 13th in the same event and threw a distance of 11.52 meters (37' 9.50") and Nicole Walls finished 16th with a distance of 10.80 meters (35' 5.25").
The Yellow Jacket women will next compete in the Northwest Ohio Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay on Friday, Jan. 15. The start time for the event is still TBA.
