Defiance Ends Day One Of HCAC Championships In Fifth Place
LEXINGTON, KY. – The Defiance College women’s track and field team traveled to Lexington, Ky. to compete at Transylvania (Ky.) University for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and sits in fifth place with 24 points after day one.

Sophomore Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) earned the title of HCAC Champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event with a time of 11:44.86.
Freshman Leah Anderson (Hicksville) qualified for finals in the 400-meter hurdles after finishing fourth in her heat, seventh overall, with a time of 1:13.06.
Freshman Cassidy Stanten (Woodridge, Ill. /Downers Grove North) sailed the javelin 104' 5", to finish seventh, while Sophomore Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa. /Bloomsburg) sent her javelin 94' 2" to finish behind Santen in tenth place.
Freshman Hannah Williams (Swanton) finished in third place after throwing the hammer 129' 7" on her last attempt. Sophomore Alexis Walker (Fort Myers, Fla. /Fort Myers) was able to toss the hammer 128' 07" on a strong first attempt throw which landed her in fifth place. Junior Nicole Walls (Carleton, Mich. /Airport) rounded out the top-ten in the hammer after throw that went 116' 4".
Junior Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center) was able to score for Defiance in the triple jump, after leaping 33' .50" for a seventh place finish.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action tomorrow (Apr. 25) for the final day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
