Defiance Finishes Seventh at HCAC Championships
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Defiance College women’s track and field team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships and finished seventh with a team score of 48 points.
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships and finished seventh with a team score of 48 points.
Defiance was led by sophomore Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay County) who had two second place finishes for the day. Miller posted a time of 10:39.32 in the 3000-meter run and 18:45.29 in the 5000-meter run.
Freshman Leah Anderson (Hicksville) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.26 seconds.
The 4x200 relay team consisting of junior Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center), freshman Danielle Robbins (Westland, Mich./ Wayne Memorial), sophomore Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and Anderson crossed the line at the 1:55.82 minute mark, for a fourth-place finish.
The Distance Medley team consisting of senior Kelsey Bowling (Sidney/Houston), Robbins, freshman Aaron Textor (Swanton) and freshman Courtney Kunk (St. Henry) also finished fourth with a time of 13:52.97.
Freshman Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) was the sole Yellow Jacket to place in the top-five in the field events. Santen threw the shot a distance of 34' 7.00" to finish in fourth place.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they travel to Anderson, Ind. to compete in the Fred Wilt Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
