The Purple and Gold Travel to Ada
ADA, OHIO – The Defiance College women’s track and field team traveled to Ada to compete at Ohio Northern University in the Joe Banks Invitational and finished in 11th place overall.
ADA, OHIO – The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Ada to compete at Ohio Northern University in the Joe Banks Invitational and finished in 11th place overall.
Defiance was led by junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. /Jay County) who finished fourth in the 1000-meter run. Miller crossed the line at the 3:13.12 minute mark, which breaks the school record set back in 2011. Freshman Courtney Kunk (St. Henry) finished close behind Miller, crossing at the 3:26.28 minute mark, placing eighth.
In the field events, freshman Leah Anderson (Hicksville) jumped the distance of 14' 10.50", for a ninth place tie. Sophomore Alexis Walker (Fort Myers, Fla. /Fort Myers) threw the shot a personal best of 36' 6.75" for a sixth-place finish. Fellow Yellow Jacket, freshman Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill. /Downers Grove North) finished close behind walker with a throw of 32' 2.00".
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, Feb. 13 when they host the Defiance Open. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
