Bingley, Nolfi, and Wilson named Players of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College Track and Field Team capped off a great week by having three athletes named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week list.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College Track and Field Team capped off a great week by having three athletes named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week list. Anthony Nolfi, Micah Wilson, and Kim Bingley all were awarded for their performances.
Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast) won the hammer throw at the Dick Small Invitational and Huntington Invitational and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The senior won the event at the DC Dick Small Invitational with a heave of 47.47 meters and added a winning mark of 47.22 meters to win the hammer throw at Huntington. Nolfi also won the discus at the Dick Small Invitational with a winning mark of 40.63 meters.
Freshman Wilson (Mims, Fla. / Astronaut) swept the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Dick Small and Huntington Invitationals during the week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time. The freshman's 200-meter performance at the Dick Small Invitational (25.32) ranks 15th in NCAA Division III with her 100-meter mark ranking 31st nationally. Wilson currently leads the HCAC in both events this spring.
Bingley (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Glandorf) had a busy week for the Jackets and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The senior won the high jump and long jump at the Dick Small Invitational Monday afternoon and then finished second at the All-Ohio Division III Multi-Event Championships over the weekend. Her total of 4,471 points at the event ranks third in all of NCAA Division III this season. Bingley finished first in both the shot put and javelin portions of the competition, with her effort in the javelin (38.27 meters) being the farthest in the HCAC by over 10 feet.
The DC Track and Field Team will be back in action this Saturday at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships beginning at noon.
