While some of the Lady Yellow Jackets took the night off to rest for the All-Ohio Championships tomorrow, the remaining members looked good in the home event with several top 10 finishes and a school record even fell.
Maggie Sarfino (Dayton, Ohio / Kettering Fairmont) took fifth place in the last event but perhaps the most exciting event of the night. With all other events concluded, all eyes were on women's triple jump where the grand finale did not disappoint. In the event, Sarfino finished in fifth place with a mark of 10.50 meters. With the distance, Sarfino beat the DC record that had been standing since 2010.
Junior Brooke Lime (Defiance, Ohio / Defiance) also had a big meet for the Lady Yellow Jackets. She finished her Valentine's Day with two top 10 finishes. First in the 60-meter hurdles, she finished in second place with a 9.51. In the 400-meter dash, Lime again finished in the top 10 with a 1:05.97. The time won her heat and was the tenth fastest overall.
In distance, Marissa Bussard (Canal Winchester, Ohio / Bloom-Carroll) finished in ninth for DC in the 3,000-meter run. She finished with a time of 12:19.29 to secure the top 10 finish.
Nikki Young (Van Wert, Ohio / Van Wert) and Alexis Walker (Fort Myers, Fla. / Fort Myers) put together strong individual performances for the Lady Yellow Jackets in the weight throw. Young threw for a distance of 12.43 meters for a seventh place finish and Walker finished with a throw of 12.33 meters to claim ninth place.
The Lady Yellow Jackets will be back in action tomorrow at Otterbein University for the All-Ohio Championships. Start time is set for noon.
