Field athletes lead way in Joe Banks Invitational
ADA, Ohio – They Lady Yellow Jackets made the drive to Ohio Northern University to compete in the Joe Banks Invitational. DC finished in seventh out of nine teams with 46 points.

Freshman phenom Micah Wilson (Mims, Fla. / Astronaut) continued to shine for DC on the track. She won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.35. She also set a career best and second best time in Lady Yellow Jacket history in the event.
Bree Anderson (Huntertown, Ind. / Carroll) also brought home points for DC on the track with a seventh place finish in the 60-meter dash. With a time of 8.56, she secured the points for DC.
Also finishing in the top eight was Brooke Lime (Defiance, Ohio / Defiance). She finished in the eighth place spot in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.81.
The Lady Yellow Jackets really saw a majority of their success in the field events. Ellexsie Haughton (Ocala, Fla. / Forest) led the way in the field with two third place finishes on the day. She threw her way to the three spot in the weight throw with a distance of 13.25 meters. She did the same in the shot put with a distance of 10.67 meters.
Samantha Cook (Raiford, Fla. / Bradford County) received points in two events as well. In the shot put, she finished in second with a throw of 10.78 meters. With a distance of 12.41 meters, she finished in seventh place in the weight throw.
Yet another thrower got points for the Yellow Jackets in both the shot put and the weight throw. Alexis Walker (Fort Myers, Fla. / Fort Myers) saw her best finish in the shot put. With a distance of 10.26, she placed fifth in the event. In the weight throw she threw for a distance of 12.43 for a sixth place finish.
With the distances that Walker and Cook put up in the weight throw, they both saw career best marks.
On Valentine's Day, the Yellow Jackets will be hosting their Defiance Open. Meet time is set to start at 4 p.m.
