DC Women’s Track and Field Competes at Hillsdale Heptathlon
HILLSDALE, Mich. – Juniors Kim Bingley and Kali George took part in the first day of action at the Hillsdale Classic Wednesday, May 8.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – Juniors Kim Bingley and Kali George took part in the first day of action at the Hillsdale Classic Wednesday, May 8. After four events, the pair amazingly is tied with 2,557 points apiece heading into the second half of the meet.
The duo competed in the events of the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash. In that order, Bingley finished sixth (15.95), eighth (1.46 meters), third (10.36 m) and seventh (27.02), while George came in ninth (16.71), fifth (1.58 m), eighth (8.90 m) and fourth (26.46), respectively. George's mark in the 200 was good for third all-time in DC history.
Out of the 10 heptathlon athletes competing on the afternoon, individuals range from National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. II all the way to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. However, the two Defiance College juniors held their own at the meet, and sit tied for seventh.
Both Lady Jackets will finish up the heptathlon tomorrow, Thursday, May 9 and hope to perform well enough to be ranked in the top-22 of the event for division III. If they are successful, Bingley and George will qualify for the NCAA Div. III Track and Field Championships scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 23. Action tomorrow will begin at 9:30 a.m.
