Lime Breaks Record at Ron Althoff Invitational
DELAWARE, Ohio – Freshman Brooke Lime set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles as the Defiance College men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Ron Althoff Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
DELAWARE, Ohio – Freshman Brooke Lime set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles as the Defiance College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Ron Althoff Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
Lime entered her name into the record books with a mark of 1:05.32. She also ran a top-ten time in school history in the 100-meter hurdles by crossing the line at 14.93. Lime holds the best time in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in the 100-meter hurdles and the second ranked time in the 400-meter hurdles.
Also competing for the women's track and field team was sophomore Kim Bingley. Bingley competed in the heptathlon and took second in the event with 4346 points. Bingley moved to 19th in the nation in the heptathlon with the finish. Her performance included several Defiance College top five and top ten results. She ented the top five in the DC record books in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.29 and the 200-meter dash with a mark of 27.21. Bingley is now sixth all-time in the 800-meter run at 2:28.32 and joined the top ten in the high jump, shot put and long jump.
The men's team had two athletes at the meet. Junior Tom Postema took first place in the hammer throw and shot put. He set a mark of 194-10 in the hammer and 53-07.00 in the shot put. Postema also finished second in the discus with a throw of 167-10. Postema jumped up to fifth in the nation in the hammer throw and 17th in the shot put.
Senior Kyle Tietje was the other competitor for the men's team. He placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 6-04.25.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, May 18 at the Gregory Invitational. The meet is hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois and will start at 12:00 pm.
