Parrett Breaks Record as Jackets Compete at Keeler Invite
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Defiance College men’s and women’s track and field teams had several athletes compete at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College on Friday and Saturday.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Defiance College men's and women's track and field teams had several athletes compete at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College on Friday and Saturday. Freshman Troy Parrett set a DC record in the 800-meter run.
Parrett, the All-Ohio and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference winner, ran the 800-meter run in 1:53.27, which beats the previous mark of 1:54.60 set by Jim Cross.
Three other men's competitors joined Parrett at the event, while the women had one athlete.
On the men's side, senior Aaron Fraley competed in the 1500-meter run and the 3000-meter steeplechase. He crossed the line in 4:12.27 in the 1500-meter race and 10:16.47 in the steeplechase.
Junior Hayden Krick ran in the 5000-meter run on Friday and completed the race in 15:36.07. Senior Kyle Tietje competed in the high jump and cleared a mark of 6.05-00 to finish in eighth place.
The lone competitor for the women's team was sophomore Kim Bingley, who took part in the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump. Bingley ran the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.46 for 19th place, and had a leap of 15-11.50 in the long jump.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Monday, May 14 at the Ron Althoff Invitational. The meet is hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University and will start at 12:00 pm.
