Yellow Jackets Post Strong Showing at Spartan Classic
N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Sophomore Katie Heitkamp and sophomore Kim Bingley each won an event for the Defiance College women’s track and field team at the Spartan Classic.
N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Sophomore Katie Heitkamp and sophomore Kim Bingley each won an event for the Defiance College women's track and field team at the Spartan Classic. Heitkamp won the pole vault and Bingley was first in the shot put.
Heitkamp earned the win in the pole vault with a mark of 2.94m. She was also fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.15. Bingley won the shot put with a toss of 10.88m. She combined with Brooke Lime, Morgan Redick and Kali George to take second in the 4x100-meter relay.
Lime grabbed a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and added a seventh-place result in the 100-meter dash. Lime finished with a time of 1:08.48 in the hurdles, and finished the 100-meter dash in 13.81. Redick was fifth in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 13.68.
Kate Borer finished second in the javelin with a throw of 27.81. The junior added fourth-place leap of 9.47 meter in the triple jump and was sixth in the pole vault at 2.64m.
Senior Courtney Swabb finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.48.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, April 27 when they travel to Franklin, Indiana to take part in the opening day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The meet will begin at 3:00 pm.
