DC Women Impress in Inaugural Indoor Meet
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s track and field team hosted its inaugural home indoor track and field meet on Friday evening.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's track and field team hosted its inaugural home indoor track and field meet on Friday evening. The Yellow Jackets hosted Mount St. Joseph for a dual meet. The meet was not scored.
The Jackets broke a couple of DC indoor records on the evening. The individual record-breaker was junior Erika DeBos.
DeBos competed in the 600-meter dash for the Jackets and posted a final time of 1:49.60 to win the event and set the all-time DC record. The junior won the event by nearly five seconds. DeBos also claimed a victory in the high jump event by clearing a height of 4-11.75.
The other record-breaking performance was turned in by the sprint relay team. The team consisted of DeBos, Courtney Swabb, Kali George and Marlea Rolander. They finished with a time of 4:38.58 winning by over 20 seconds.
Other DC event winners on the evening were Courtney Swabb in the 300-meter dash, Ellen Stryffeler in the 3,000-meter run, Malana Ledley in the 60-meter hurdles, Katie Heitkamp in the pole vault, Courtney Swabb in the long jump and Katie Tibbits in the shot put.
