Jackets’ Heitkamp Receives All-Sportsmanship Recognition
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior pole vaulter and mid-distance runner Katie Heitkamp was honored by the head coaches of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference by being selected to the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior pole vaulter and mid-distance runner Katie Heitkamp was honored by the head coaches of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference by being selected to the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Heitkamp has been a standout performer for the Yellow Jackets this season, consistently earning points in multiple events. The junior has broken her own school record this season in the pole vault by clearing a height of 10-02.75. Heitkamp placed third at the HCAC Championships with a mark of 9-08.00 in the event and is currently ranked in the top 100 in the nation.
The Saint Mary's native also finished eighth overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.06. Heitkamp accounted for seven of the teams 42 total points at the championships.
The DC women's track team is back in action on Friday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are hosting their first ever indoor track meet and the newly built George M. Smart Athletic Center.
