Lime Sets DC Record at All-Ohio Championships
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The DC track and field team split the squad on Saturday and competed at the All-Ohio Championships and the Raven Invitational. The Jackets had a number of strong showings on the afternoon.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The DC track and field team split the squad on Saturday and competed at the All-Ohio Championships and the Raven Invitational. The Jackets had a number of strong showings on the afternoon.
The performance of the weekend was delivered by freshman hurdler Brooke Lime. The freshman placed fourth at the All-Ohio Championships in the 60-meter hurdles and with a time of 9.40 seconds. Lime set the Defiance record with this mark and is currently in third place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the event.
Another athlete who had a solid afternoon was junior Katie Heitkamp who cleared a height of 10-00.50. This height placed the junior eighth at the championships. Heitkamp is the HCAC leader in pole vault and the owner of the DC all-time mark.
At the Raven Invitational senior Marlea Rolander posted a time of 8.61 seconds in the 60-meter dash. The mark is Rolander's career best, and the time places the senior in second place in DC history.
Two other athletes who had career days were junior Kate Borer and sophomore Brittany Wildman. Borer jumped a distance of 31-02.80 in the triple jump which is the junior's personal record. Wildman competed in the pole vault and recorded a height of 8-08.25 which is also a personal best. The mark places Wildman in sixth place in the HCAC to date.
The Yellow Jackets are back on the track on Saturday, February 18 at the HCAC Indoor Championships held at Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
