DC Track and Field Finish Fourth at Ohio Northern
ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio on Saturday to compete in the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University.
ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio on Saturday to compete in the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University. The Jackets were able to score 60 points, which placed DC fourth in the invite.
The standout performer of the day for the Purple and Gold was freshman hurdler Brooke Lime, who set a new Defiance College record for fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles event. Lime finished with a time of 9.56 seconds. Along with breaking the DC record, the freshman's time is also currently the fastest in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season. Teammate Marlea Rolander also had a noteworthy time in the event, finishing in 10.28 seconds.
Senior Ellen Stryffeler posted the best distance performance of the day for the Yellow Jackets in the 3,000-meter run. The senior placed second in the event with a time of 11:21.06. This time places Stryffeler in third place in the DC record books and fifth in this year's HCAC standings for the event.
For the DC sprinters freshman Morgan Redick led the way with her time in the 400-meter dash. Redick ran a time of 1:05.31, which ranks the freshman fourth overall in the HCAC and seventh in the record books.
Another athlete to take note of was Katie Heitkamp in the pole vault. The junior placed fourth in the event and cleared a height of at least 10 feet for the second consecutive week.
The Defiance College squad next competes on Saturday, February 11 at the All-Ohio Championships. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 12:00 p.m.
