Switzer Breaks Steeplechase Record at Keeler Invitational
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Defiance College track and field program continued its 2011 outdoor season by sending a limited number of participants to compete in the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Defiance College track and field program continued its 2011 outdoor season by sending a limited number of participants to compete in the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central.
Marlea Rolander paced the women by finishing 14th in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles, while Kali George took 11th in the triple jump with a distance of 8.94 meters. Kaitlin Switzer also excelled, making history by running a time of 11:29.49 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to set a new DC record.
On the men's side, Justin Perkins recorded the top finish for the Jackets by scoring a 16th-place effort in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:24.84.
Defiance will head back to North Central on Tuesday to compete in the Gregory Multi-Event and Gregory Invitational. The two events will be held from Tuesday until Friday.
