Women’s Track and Field Has Four Post All-Ohio Performances
DELAWARE, Ohio – The women’s track and field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday to compete in the Div. III All-Ohio Championships.
DELAWARE, Ohio – The women's track and field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday to compete in the Div. III All-Ohio Championships. DC's Kim Bingley, Katie Heitkamp, Marlea Rolander and Kaitlin Switzer each posted All-Ohio performances at the meet.
Bingley reclaimed her spot at the top of the HCAC's performances list for the javelin throw this season with a personal-best heave of 109-11.00. The freshman athlete claimed fourth place at the meet with the toss, and moved into ninth place all-time in DC's record books.
Heitkamp continued her outstanding sophomore season with her first-career All-Ohio performance. She cleared 9-08.00 to claim fifth place at the meet.
Rolander turned in a personal-best time in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:07.06 to claim third place at the meet and improve her third-place ranking in the conference standings. Her time also represents the second-fastest 400-meter hurdle performance in Defiance College history.
Switzer claimed the All-Ohio accolade in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for a third-consecutive season. The senior runner finished in 11:41.09 to improve her second-place standing on the HCAC's performances list.
Defiance will travel to Indiana on Thursday, April 21, for the Anderson University Pre-Conference Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
