DC Track and Field Ends Indoor Season at North Central
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Defiance College track and field team wrapped up its 2011 indoor season on Friday evening, at the North Central College Last Chance Qualifier in Naperville, Ill.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Defiance College track and field team wrapped up its 2011 indoor season on Friday evening, at the North Central College Last Chance Qualifier in Naperville, Ill. DC's Tyler Anderson, Justin Perkins, Marlea Rolander and Austin Trivett made the trip to compete.
Austin Trivett came up just short of a NCAA Div. III National Championship qualifying mark in the high jump with his clearance of 6-04.75 (1.95 meters). Trivett's height placed seventh at the meet, and just an inch and a half shy of his personal best.
Trivett and Anderson tied for eighth place in the pole vault, both clearing 14-00.50 (4.28 meters).
Justin Perkins completed the 3,000-meter run in 9:04.72, finishing third overall and first among attached participants. Perkins' time is just over two seconds off his personal record, which he set in January at the Northwest Ohio Invitational.
DC's only female competitor at the meet was Marlea Rolander, who ran the 55-meter hurdles in 9.92 seconds for a 12th-place finish.
Defiance will kick off the 2011 outdoor track and field season at home, when it hosts the annual Dick Small Invitational at Coressel Stadium on Saturday, March 19. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
