Two School Records Fall at Indoor All-Ohio Championships
GAMBIER, Ohio – The women’s track and field team notched two All-Ohio performances and two school records in the Div. III Indoor All-Ohio Championships at Kenyon College on Saturday.
GAMBIER, Ohio – The women's track and field team notched two All-Ohio performances and two school records in the Div. III Indoor All-Ohio Championships at Kenyon College on Saturday. Defiance's Marlea Rolander and Addie Henricks earned Indoor All-Ohio honors at the meet.
Rolander earned the Indoor All-Ohio distinction for the second time in three years, finishing eighth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07 seconds. Henricks was one of three freshmen to earn All-Ohio honors in the high jump, clearing 1.51 meters to tie for eighth at the meet.
Ashlyn Howell, Kali George, Courtney Swabb and Katie Heitkamp teamed up to break DC's school record in the 4x400-meter relay by just over a second, finishing the race in 4:19.36 to edge out Manchester for second place in the conference this season. Heitkamp would go on to break an individual school record at the meet as well with a clearance of 2.90 meters (9' 8") in the pole vault, tying Manchester's Emily Ballinger for second place in the HCAC this season.
In the one-mile run, Ellen Stryffeler improved her personal record and moved into second in school history with a time of 5:36.75. Stryffeler's performance ranks sixth in the conference this season.
Defiance now turns its attention to the first-annual HCAC Indoor Championships, set for Saturday, Feb. 19, in Anderson, Ind. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
