HCAC Honors DC’s Higdon and Rolander
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior Samantha Higdon and freshman Marlea Rolander each won an event title at the Manchester Invitational and have been tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior Samantha Higdon and freshman Marlea Rolander each won an event title at the Manchester Invitational and have been tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.
Higdon, a four-time All-Ohio honoree, scored in three different events at the Manchester Invite to garner the first conference weekly award of her career. The junior earned the top spot in the hammer throw with a HCAC-best toss of 132' 11". Higdon also placed seventh in the shot put and eighth in the discus at the meet. The Waldron, Ind. native currently ranks in the top-five in the HCAC in three different events.
Rolander continued her dominance in the 100m hurdles, earning the HCAC weekly honor for the second time this season. The freshman cruised to victory at the Manchester Invitational in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.63 seconds, posting the fasted time in the conference for the third-straight week. She crossed the line in 13.71 seconds to finish third in the 100m, ranking fifth on the HCAC outdoor performance list in the event.
The Jackets will be back in action next weekend, April 11, when they compete in the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. Events are slated to kick-off at 10:00 a.m.
