Rolander and Trivett Garner HCAC Weekly Honors
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Marlea Rolander and Austin Trivett each garnered individual titles at the Spartan Classic on Saturday and have been named the HCAC Athletes of the Week. Defiance has now tallied nine of the 20 weekly honors awarded this season.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Marlea Rolander and Austin Trivett each garnered individual titles at the Spartan Classic on Saturday and have been named the HCAC Athletes of the Week. Defiance has now tallied nine of the 20 weekly honors awarded this season.
Rolander remained undefeated against conference opponents with a two-second victory in the 100m hurdles, while also recording fourth-place finishes in the 200m dash (28.12) and as a member of the 4x100 relay team (52.95). The freshman sprinter has now won the conference award three times this season, joining teammate Holly Stein with the most by any HCAC female athlete in the past five years. Rolander will look to compete for Freshman-of-the-Year honors at the HCAC Championships this weekend, as she enters the meet ranked first in the 100m hurdles and sixth in 200m dash.
Trivett earned HCAC weekly recognition for the first time in his career, after recording a trio of top-three finishes at the Spartan Classic on Saturday. The sophomore set a personal-record in the long jump with a winning leap of 21-08.75, posting the top mark in the conference by four inches. Trivett also finished second in the pole vault (13-11.25), while tying a personal-best in the high jump (6-04.25) on his way to third-place honors. The Defiance High School product enters this weekend's HCAC Championships ranked first in the long jump, second in the pole vault and third in both the high jump and javelin.
The Jackets will be in action this weekend, April 24-25, when they will compete in the HCAC Championships on the campus of Rose-Hulman. The opening day of events are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
