Women's Tennis Claims HCAC Victory over Manchester
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Dix Tennis Facility played host to it's penultimate women's tennis match of the 2019 season Wednesday afternoon with a visit from Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Manchester University. The Yellow Jackets came away with a 6-3 win over the Spartans.

A tough battle at number one doubles saw the pairing of A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) and Alexa St. Julian (Oregon / Clay) grab four games before dropping the set. Destiny Oshodin (Toldeo / Jesup W. Scott) and Sydney Huston (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence) quickly pulled out an 8-2 victory in number two doubles.
Singles play saw Oshodin push her Spartan foe to a super-tiebreak after rebounding from an opening set loss in number two action. The Yellow Jackets were prepared to grab the victory with a sweep of the final four singles slots.
St. Julian pulled out a 6-3, 6-4 win at number three. Huston continued her successful day with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at number four. Rylea Amspaugh (Nashport / Lakewood) picked up her first singles win of the season with an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in HCAC play. Defiance will conclude the 2019 home season with a contest against Franklin at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 21.
