Women's Tennis Begins Spring Season with Indiana Tech

DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's tennis team opened up the 2019 spring season on Monday afternoon with a battle with Indiana Tech in the George M. Smart Center. The NAIA foe headed back to Fort Wayne with a 6-3 victory over Defiance.

DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's tennis team opened up the 2019 spring season on Monday afternoon with a battle with Indiana Tech in the George M. Smart Center. The NAIA foe headed back to Fort Wayne with a 6-3 victory over Defiance.

Doubles action got started with the senior pairing of Hannah Hesterman (Archbold / Archbold) and Cayla Walker (Archbold / Archbold) slotting into the number one match. The dynamic senior duo grabbed two games from their Indiana Tech opponents before falling 8-2. Forfeit from the Warriors earned DC a victory before moving onto singles action.

A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) was able to pick up two games from her number two singles battle, falling 6-1, 6-1. Defiance grabbed two more wins from the number five and six slots as the Warriors failed to fieild an opponent.

DC will return to action on Monday, Feb. 25th as Alma College visits the Smart Center. Action is slated to begin at 4:30 pm.
