Number One Doubles Victory Highlights Match vs. Albion

Action got off to a good start for the Yellow Jacket faithful as the number one double pairing of Hannah Hesterman (Archbold / Archbold) and Cayla Walker (Archbold / Archbold) defeated their Albion counterparts 8-2. The number two doubles team of A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) and Chelsey Braunwart (Trenton / Edgewood) battled through a back-and-forth match as they eventually fell to Albion's Valade and Haddad by a final of 8-5. The third doubles match of the day saw Sydney Huston (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence) and Alexa St. Julian (Oregon / Clay) swept 8-0 to wrap up doubles action.
Despite the doubles victory, Hesterman was unable to earn victory over Albion's hard-hitting Alise Haddad in number one singles action, falling by a score of 6-2, 6-4. Breneman dropped her contest in number two singles by a scorline 6-4, 6-2. In number three singles fans were treated to three sets of exciting tennis as Walker battled through a 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 defeat. Huston was unable to take a game from her Briton opponent falling 6-0,6-0. To wrap up the singles action Braunwart and Rylea Amspaugh (Nashport / Lakewood) each dropped their contests 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-0 respectively.
The defeat takes the Yellow Jacket tennis record to 1-5. The side will next be in action Thursday, Sept. 20 as they travel Manchester for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest. First serve is scheduled for 5:15 pm.
