Women's Tennis Finishes Busy Weekend with Loss at Rose-Hulman
TERRE HAUTE, IND. - The Defiance College women's tennis team continued their busy weekend as they traveled to Rose-Hulman on Saturday morning for a second Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup in as many days. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Fightin' Engineers 9-0.

On the doubles side of action, Defiance's number one duo of Hannah Hesterman (Archbold / Archbold) and A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) won four games from their Rose-Hulman opponents, but ulitmately lost the contest 8-4. Cayla Walker (Archbold / Archbold) and Chelsey Braunwart (Trenton / Edgewood) fought through an 8-3 score in number two doubles. In the last doubles action of the morning Sydney Huston (Indianapolis, Ind. / Larwrence) and Alexa St. Julian (Oregon / Clay) were defeated 8-1.
Singles action saw Hesterman battle to a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-4) defeat at the hands of Rose's number one singles Anna Thompson. Breneman won a game in the first set of her singles contest before being swept by a final score of 6-1, 6-0. Like Hesterman, Walker also took her Fightin' Engineer opponent to a third set, ultimately falling 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). In number four singles Huston fell 6-1, 6-2, while in the five and six slots Braunwart and Amspaugh fell 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively.
The defeat takes the Yellow Jacket record to 1-4 on the year. The tennis team's next action is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18th at the Dix Tennis Facility on the Defiance College campus. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
